The aim of this project was to promote simple groundwater extraction and irrigation technologies affordable by small farms of Central Asia, and contribute to improving awareness of policy makers of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on simple groundwater extraction and irrigation technologies. The objectives for the target region were to develop a variety of practical groundwater irrigation technologies, evaluate and replicate at least two methods of Managed Aquifer Recharge, assess downstream agricultural water productivity and better understanding of climate change impact on groundwater.
