Transportation
Sustainable transportation, addressed by the United Nations ‘global goals’ under Sustainable Development Goal 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure, is vital to ensure that rural communities are not isolated. Safe and efficient transport connects people to healthcare, social services and job opportunities and facilitates regional, national and global trade.
The OPEC Fund has long been committed to the transportation industry. In 2019, approvals of development financing for transportation-related projects total US$451m.
