Overview
The OPEC Fund for International Development (the OPEC Fund) is a global multilateral development bank, founded by international treaty in 1976 by the then OPEC member countries. The OPEC Fund was established exclusively to foster solidarity and cooperation among fellow developing countries and represents the collective commitment of its 12 member countries to promote economic and social development in non-member developing nations. This commitment now spans 48 years, with the OPEC Fund being the only South-South development agency with a global mandate.
