Education
The UN SDG 4 calls on all countries to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
According to the Sustainable Development Goals Report 2023 (by the United Nations), without additional effort in this sector, only one in six countries will achieve the universal secondary school completion target by 2030, an estimated 84 million children and young people will still be out of school, and approximately 300 million students will lack the basic numeracy and literacy skills necessary for success in life.
Refocused efforts are required to improve the quality of, and disparities in, education along the lines of gender, location and other dimensions. More investments in education infrastructure are required, particularly in the least developed countries.
In 2023, the OPEC Fund committed more than US$103 million to the education sector.
Commitments are operations and agreements that have been signed by the relevant parties.
