The project aims to improve the performance of selected water and sanitation utilities in the targeted countries with a view to delivering better and sustained access to water and sanitation services. For this purpose, the project will support the implementation of five short-term Water Operators‘ Partnerships (WOPs) between utilities of the targeted countries and those from other five developing countries. In this regard, it builds on the positive results and lessons learnt from a previous similar initiative to support nine WOPs in Africa which was launched in 2013 with OFID’s support (US$1.00 million grant approved in 2013). The project is expected to directly benefit 5 service providers in the targeted countries, their staff and ultimately around 4.6 million people who will have improved access to water supply and sanitation services.
