This project’s main objective is to improve the management and control of transboundary animal diseases in a number of Asian countries through the effective use of nuclear technology in animal diseases diagnosis. The project is a continuation of a capacity building initiative in animal health and livestock production in Asia launched in 2012 by the IAEA through its Technical Cooperation Program, with focus on supporting early warning, response and control of transboundary animal diseases;. The project uses a twin-track capacity building approach through training the concerned practitioners and providing equipment to animal disease laboratories so as to enable them to employ the nuclear diagnostic techniques.
