The grant was extended to benefit the people affected by severe floods resulting from torrential rains in the OPEC Fund's host country Austria. As per the proposal of the Austrian President, Dr. Thomas Klestil, the grant's proceeds were transferred to a special account set up by the ORF to pool donated funds on behalf of eight Austrian aid agencies.
