This project will construct the country’s first radiotherapy facility at Asmara’s Orota Hospital, the capital city’s main referral hospital. Works will include:
- purchase of equipment necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, including chemotherapy;
- hiring of specialist staff such as oncologists, medical physicists and radiation therapy technicians;
- provision of training torelated staff; and
- expansion of cancer prevention and control programs.
