The aim of this project is to reduce energy losses and provide a reliable source of power, particularly in poor, rural areas, for over one million people. Works will be carried out in a remote rural area crossing the Boulgou and Kouritenga provinces in the central-east region. These provinces are about 250km away from the capital Ouagadougou. Under the project, a 55 km-long power line will be installed and a new substation in Koupela constructed, among other civil works. In addition to raising living standards, the project will help decrease the use of biomass, thus having a favorable impact on both the population’s health and the environment.
