This project expanded and rehabilitated Peru’s transport infrastructure, which had fallen in severe disrepair as a result of the country’s extreme climatic conditions an insufficient maintenance. Under the scheme:
- some 725 km of national roads and 115 km of railway lines were rehabilitated;
- 76 reinforced concrete bridges constructed;
- 12 locomotives and 150 wagons were repaired; and,
- the Lima Airport’s runways and taxi-ways upgraded.
