The project will rehabilitate three dilapidated hydroelectric power plants in the western provinces of Ruhengeri and Gisenyi. Works to be carried out include:
- renovation and modernization of each plant;
- repair of connecting canals;
- carrying out of erosion and flood protection measures to prevent damage to the powerhouses at the plants;
- construction of access roads and workshops; and
- implementation of capacity-building schemes.
