Predominantly rural, the province has a total population of 1.2 million, most of whom are dependent on agriculture for livelihood.The project will carry out the following activities in close cooperation with local communities, and will include, among others:

  • construction of inter-communal roads;
  • construction of irrigation systems and primary and secondary schools;
  • installation of rural electricity transmission system;
  • construction of health clinics and centers.
An estimated 379,000 people will benefit directly from the project, through easier access to social services, greater job opportunities and enhanced food security.
