The project will construct three teacher training colleges, each which will have the capacity to accommodate 1,000 trainees. The colleges will built in Livingstonia in the Rumphi District in the North; in Mchinji in central Malawi; and in the Shire Valley District of Chikwawa in the South. In addition, hostels and housing units for students and instructors at each facility will be built. Also included is the provision of equipment and furniture for each college. On completion, the availability of more and better-trained teachers will help improve the overall quality of education, and, in turn, reduce dropout and repetition rates.
