The Assif El Mal area situated in Chichaoua Province in southwest Marrakech is presently experiencing significant water shortages. In order to increase the irrigated agriculture in the area as well as deliver a safe and constant supply of drinking water to Chichaoua and neighboring cities and villages, the project will construct the Taskourt Dam with a storage capacity of 25 million m3; procure and install hydro-mechanical equipment; and carry out maintenance on irrigation channels and water intakes to protect 16,800 ha of land.
