The project includes the following: Improvement of water supply; rehabilitation of extension of irrigation and drainage system for 41,000 acres of land on Essequibo Coast; construction of about 30 miles of all weather roads; establishment of an agricultural development program, including applied research on rice varieties and fertilizer effectiveness, production of improved seed; and establishment of an extension service for small-scale farmers.
