The aim of the research study was to understand more clearly the policy implications of surface and groundwater interactions in naturally saline, arid environments and develop alternatives for sustainable resource management in contrasting political and cultural environments. The main objective was to provide a solid link between sound water resources assessment and prediction of future resource availability scenarios, farmer aspirations and perspectives and the legal-institutional framework for natural resources management.
