The Emergency Aid grant supported the relief operations of PRCS in Gaza, which include the provision of emergency medical services, the procurement of ambulances, drugs and disposables and communication means, in addition to the provision of secondary health care through the Emergency Rooms, Operations Rooms, Intensive Care Units, wards and follow ups to the causalities PRCS Hospitals receive, especially with the high toll of injuries and the huge load of the governmental hospitals. The grant was approved to respond to the emergency needs in the aftermath of the Marches of Return which began in March 2018. It was reported that 265 Palestinians were killed and 28,252 were injured in the context of the marches in the Gaza Strip. The bulk of OFID's grant (USD 300 K) was utilized to provide secondary health care, including hospital medical equipment and supplies. The remaining part was used chiefly for facilitating the provision of emergency medical services, including emergency medicines and disposables, and sustaining the ambulances involved in relief operations. A portion of the grant (7%) was used to cover staff and administrative costs.
