Established in 1993 as a non-profit, non-political organization, it aims at the provision of primary and secondary medical services to Palestinians. The hospital serves around 5,000 cases monthly, 60,000 cases annually, through the outpatient clinics, the inpatient departments (25 beds) and the supportive and paramedical units. The grant was in support of increasing the hospital's capacity.
