The total cost of the project was US$31.3 million. The Solar Energy Regional Center Project (CRES) was established in Mali for the promotion of renewable sources of energy in three main aspects: technology, production and financing. Beneficiary countries were: Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Gambia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal. The OPEC Fund cofinanced the civil works component of the project.
