The grant was extended to support the Simon Bolivar Institute as an Experimental Agricultural College for training students in Latin America and the Caribbean, located in Estado Barinas, Venezuela. The Institute aimed at purchasing machinery and equipment for the Ticopora Farm to provide first hand training for its students. The equipment was used for reforestation, construction of a water supply system on the farm, building in-farm roads, and expanding the sowing area, as well as establishing a lending program to assist neighbouring farmers to develop their farms.
