This project is a key element of the government’s national transport plan. The roads targeted for rehabilitation were selected by local governments, based on their location, present condition and communities’ commitment to carrying out regular maintenance works. Works will be implemented in the form of sub-projects:

  • rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of three segments of secondary roads totaling 24 km; and
  • rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of eight sections of local roads totaling around 80 km.
The improved infrastructure will contribute substantially to poverty alleviation, help provide local employment and improve the quality of life for numerous rural settlements.
