Two of the country’s largest cities, Blantyre and Lilongwe, experience frequent interruptions in the water supply network. The project will therefore carry out works that will include the rehabilitation of a water processing plant and replacement and repair of worn equipment in the two cities, as well as expand water distribution systems and improve water-related infrastructure in towns, market centers and rural areas. Also planned is development of future water sources and preparation of strategic plans that address solid waste disposal and capacity building and institution strengthening.
