OFID’s funding will support the development of a 50 MW wind farm in San Marcos de Colon, which will sell its capacity and electricity to Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica. The project will also replace ageing and inefficient plants to help reduce Honduras’ energy cost and contribute to the sector’s sustainability. Moreover, it will help reduce energy imports by adding 50MW of renewable energy. Also planned is the installation of nearly 40,000 household connections that will help improve living conditions and reduce poverty.
