Only around one half of Morocco’s rural population has access to all-weather roads, thus cutting people off from markets, social services and jobs. Government’s National Program of Rural Roads is a response to this crisis and underscores its commitment to providing the rural population with more efficient transport links. Phase I of the program improved over 10,000 km of roads. This loan will support phase two, which aims to rehabilitate/ upgrade/construct 4,532 km of roads across the entire country, benefiting an estimated 1.44 million people. The improved roads will help boost the agricultural sector through the facilitated movement of inputs and produce.
