This project should be part of the IFAD Rural Energy Program to enhance living conditions and business operations of the rural poor living in the selected countries of Western and Central Africa through the development of initiatives in the domain of renewable energy. The main objective of the program in Ghana should have been the reduction of climate-inducted risks and to support income generation opportunities for rural communities through the use of cassava wastes to produce bio-energy. The Government of Ghana decided to close the project and OFID cancelled the project in October 2016.
