The project aims at providing access to electricity in over 2,800 villages, representing 86,000 households and a population of about 516,000 people living in some of the most remote and vulnerable areas of Morocco. Particular focus will be made on the mountainous zones and areas that experience harsh climatic conditions. The project will help raise living standards and promote job creation, as well as reduce reliance on fuelwood. The latter will have a positive impact on women, the primary gatherers of fuelwood, as they will be able to devote their time to more productive activities.
