The CA-5 North road is one of the country’s major trading corridors and an integral part of the International Network of Meso-American Highways. Many portions, however, are in extremely poor condition and are unable to accommodate current traffic levels. The project will carry out the following works:
- lengthening, widening and full rehabilitation of three critical sections of the CA-5;
- construction of bridges;
- installation of road signaling, lighting and safety devices;
- carrying out of a social and environmental impact study to resettle houses and businesses directly affected by the civil works.
