The Society was founded in 1944 as a welfare organization by a group of women with the cooperation of Beit-Jala municipality. It started with a clinic for mother and child health care and in 1948 opened a feeding center for 500 poor children. In 1962, it expanded its social and humanitarian services by establishing an embroidery workshop, a nursery and a training workshop for handicrafts to introduce income generating activities. The grant contributed to the establishment of a pastry production program.
