The main strategies that guided the implementation of this project included: 1.Add value to governmental/non-governmental efforts to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on children/young people and the community and build on existing initiatives and institutions. 2.Address the wider environment in which orphans and vulnerable children are living through approaches, which are inclusive and not exclusive (all orphans and vulnerable children are targeted in the project areas). 3.Capitalize on existing local skills, resources and knowledge. 4.Work with municipalities to build a sustainable model of intervention and facilitate its replication/adaptation elsewhere in the country. 5.Regular sharing of lessons learned and experience with wide range of partners, public and private. 6.Active involvement of young people, community leaders and groups to get their perspectives, inputs.
