The OPEC Fund, through the OPEC Fund/UNFPA Project for HIV/AIDS Prevention, and in collaboration with UNFPA, has decided to contribute to the prevention and control of the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Arab Region. Activities will be implemented across several programmatic areas including the upgrading of HIV/AIDS prevention capacities, the strengthening of HIV/AIDS epidemic and surveillance systems, the increase of awareness raising among the general public, and the strengthening of coordination mechanisms on managing resources at country level. The overall goal of the Project was to contribute to the decrease of HIV/AIDS incidence among the people in selected Arab countries.
