The project aimed to develop diverse pro-poor-trait-specific, high-yielding breeding populations and advanced breeding lines, identify short- and medium-duration, dual-purpose (food and fodder), oil- and confectionery- type varieties for local adaptation under different rain-fed cropping systems, produce Breeder seed of released and farmer-preferred groundnut varieties, empower poor groundnut farmers in seed production, processing and storage methodology to promote seed self-sufficiency at village level, and disseminate information on improved farmer-preferred groundnut varieties and integrated crop management technologies in farmer-friendly manner through electronic and print media.
