Mahé, Seychelles’ largest island, is under considerable pressure to accommodate a growing population on a limited amount of land. Government has thus launched a massive east coast reclamation initiative to accommodate growing construction needs. The project, which forms part of this initiative, aims to provide the newly-developed area on Perseverance Island with basic services and road links to Mahé. The project will focus on 64 ha of land designated for housing and will include:
- reinforcement of the electricity distribution network in North Mahé;
- installation of water supply and sewerage pipelines;
- construction of a dual carriageway linking Mahé to Perseverance Island and road network within the housing estate.
