This project will support government in its efforts to provide islanders with affordable, reliable sanitations systems and thereby reduce the risk of contracting waterborne illnesses. The project will target underserved communities in the heavily-populated town of Pailles Guibies, near the capital Port Louis. To be carried out in two phases, the project will carry out the following:
- construction of approximately 11 km of trunk sewer and 25 km of reticulated pipe and a new pumping station to divert effluent to the Montagne Jacquot treatment plant;
- installation of around 1,600 house connections and connections at 11 industrial sites.
