The project will focus largely on developing oil palm and four oilseed crops – sesame, groundnut, sunflower and soybean – among farmers in 36 townships. Works will include:
- upgrading of laboratories and seed harvesting and cleaning facilities;
- construction ofseed conditioning plants and storage areas;
- creation of a seed capital fund;
- construction of new solvent extraction plants capable of processing 100–150 tons of seeds per day;
- construction of a new palm oil mill in Dawei; and
- raising the production capacity of a seed refinery in Yangon from 15 to 50 tons per day.
