This project aims at supporting UNRWA's education program in its efforts to provide refugee children in the Jerusalem area with free basic education services. The present proposal is pertaining to a multi-track intervention targeting three UNRWA schools located in Shu'fat Camp in Jerusalem, benefitting more than 1,600 pupils. The Project's main outputs: 1. Fully covered the staffing costs of the targeted schools (as the salaries are the main element in the cost of operations for all schools) in order to maintain the provision of basic education. 2. Conducted maintenance and renovation works at the premises by availing new furniture and educational equipment in order to improve learning environment at Shu¿fat Basic Boys School on one hand; and alleviating the financial burden on the Agency (consequently freeing the funds and reallocating them to the rest of the UNRWA schools in Jerusalem and its periphery) on the other hand. 3. Operated summer schools and Saturday recreational activities, which helped enhance quality education, improve academic performance of low-achieving pupils in addition to reducing dropout rates and level of violence.
