Government has given priority to developing water supply systems and rehabilitating associated infrastructure in the country’s northern and central regions, where poverty levels are the highest. The project aims at providing some 97,000 people with access to safe drinking water and will carry out the following:
- development of surface, spring or groundwater sources
- construction of water treatment and distribution networks
- installation of individual service connections;
- rehabilitation of public sanitation and drainage facilities
- rehabilitation of roads and bridges
- carrying out of institutional strengthening and capacity-building measures at Laos’ Water Supply Authority and Urban Planning Department
