Project activities will target 30 villages in the governorates of Hassakeh, Deir Ezzor and Rakka in Syria’s Eastern Region. Works will entail:
- establishment of water users’ associations to control the use of locally sourced water;
- introduction of advanced water conservation technologies, including modern irrigation equipment;
- provision of extension services to help farmers adopt more productive cropping and livestock methods; and
- provision of rural credit to encourage the development of on- and off-farm enterprises.
