Schoolbooks in Djibouti are in such short supply and for some subjects no printed material is available. Due to lack of maintenance, IND, the country’s National Printing Enterprise, is operating well under capacity, necessitating the costly use of sub-contractors or printing services abroad. Project works will therefore include:
- capacity building at the IND and at Djibouti’s National Education Research, Information and Production Center (CRIPEN), and carrying out infrastructural improvements;
- rehabilitation of the IND building;
- repair of equipment;
- procurement of modern printing presses;
- expansion of the CRIPEN facility;
- purchase of computer equipment; and
- provision of staff training.
