The project centers on the construction of a 140 km of 69 kV transmission line and the expansion of five sub - stations. The Mindanao transmission line component is necessitated by 2x50 MW power barge diesel and 2x30 MW power- barge- gas turbines moored in Nasipit in Mindanao which are scheduled to be commissioned in stages beginning in 1994 . Other components covered by the proposed Project include Computer Enhanced Engineering for computer aided planning and design; and Demand-Side Management for rational and efficient use of energy in various sectors of the economy through improved conservation practices, reduction in electricity losses and tariff restructuring.
