The Union of Health Care Committees (UHCC) is a non-governmental, non-profit, community-based Palestinian Health organization. It was established in 1985 by a group of Palestinian doctors and health professionals in order to supplement the inadequate health services. The project aimed at equipping a health centre in Khan Younis, an area in the Southern of Gaza Strip characterized by poverty and marginalization, particularly considering the refugee camp in the area, and at improving the available health services for the population in the town. The direct beneficiaries of this project have been approximately 60,000 Palestinian living at Al-Batin, Al-Samin and Tal-Ashamal neighbourhoods of Khan Younis city.
