This project aimed at improving sustainability of water management in the Syrdarya and Amudarya river basins by managed aquifer recharge. The project upscaled the findings of the previous achievements of the Groundwater Central Asia project, funded by OFID, from the Fergana Valley (Uzbekistan) to the foothills of northern Tajikistan, evaluated a potential of adapting advanced technologies of managed aquifer recharge in the Amudarya basin through modeling, on-farm testing of aquifer storage and recovery in the Amudarya River midstream.
