The project is part of the Five Year Development Program (1977-81) of EGAT. It will provide an additional 150 MW lignie-fired generation unit at Mae Moh in northern Thailand, and 230 kV transmission facilities between Mae Moh and the main grid at Phitsanulok. The unit, which constitutes the fourth in a series of five, will enhance the country's capacity to rely on its indigenous energy resources and reduce its dependence on imports of fuel oil.
