Angola’s health sector is facing a number of challenges. Many provinces lack adequate health care infrastructure and medical manpower is scarce.
The project will rehabilitate the 300-bed Luanda Hospital and transform it into a modern provincial facility for general health care. New departments will be added to expand its capacity to provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment services. The facility will also focus on the treatment of communicable diseases, which are prevalent in the surrounding areas. Furniture and equipment will also be provided. On completion, the hospital will serve a population of around 1.5 million people, who will benefit from easier access to better quality health care.
