This project seeks to increase livestock production by protecting and rehabilitating the pastureland in southern Mauritania. This will include:
- planting of trees and fodder plants;
- creation of 160 km of fire-belts;
- drilling of bore holes, wells and livestock ponds
- provision of farm equipment and supplies;
- construction of feed storage facilities, vaccination centers, dairy barns, and feedlots;
- establishment of 10 Cooperative Credit and Savings Bank offices; and
- re-equipped and furnishing of existing Popular Credit and Savings Bank, which assists owners of small herds.
