The project aims at controlling drought affecting the Liptako-Gourma Region and at increasing agricultural production in the area. The project constitutes the Burkinabe section of an overall regional program and consists of the following components: a) Kobila Province - building 2 new earth dams, increasing storage capacity and rehabilitating existing dams, and developing land for irrigated agriculture; b) Ouadalan Province - rehabilitation of dam, and construction and expansion of ponds; and c) provision of equipment, studies, and provision of project supervision and consultancy.
