The project aims at supporting financially the Government efforts to promote small-scale and cottage industries (SSCI). The Government is planning to achieve a greater level of industrialization through SSCI enterprises, generating new employment, to promote self reliance through effective use of local materials, increasing production of consumer goods, promoting import substitution and export oriented industries, and reducing rural/urban unemployment and income gaps .
