The grant was extended to upgrade and strengthen the capacity of several African TB laboratories to benefit from the latest and most appropriate technologies for the detection of MDR and XDR cases. The multiplicity of the implemented technologies, along with relationships established with sequencing platform through the contacts with the European partners has resulted in an efficient, robust and sustainable process for diagnosing MDR TB. The technologies implemented have rigorously followed W.H.O recommendations and All African countries participating in the project have used the algorithms and Guidelines recommended by The W.H.O. The existence Of the network created By the project will Allow the rapid acquisition Of any new technologies in The future, along with the appropriate quality controls for their effective implementation. The project is successfully completed. The project received five months no-cost extension. The overall assessment of the project is highly satisfactory and the project achieved its expected outputs.
