The project area is located in Lahes Governorate, 90 km northeast of Aden. The first stage of the project aims to improve drinking water supplies in over 100 villages. The water sourceis located in a valley about 17.5 km away from the distribution system where water would be collected, pumped up to height of 1,500 m with main and booster pumps, treated and stored in reservoirs for final distribution. The maintain range is very rugged and access is difficult, thus, it is necessary to blast an access road into the rock for the implementation of the project.
The components of the project are as follows:
- carrying out of intake works;
- construction of a conveyance pipeline;
- construction of a storage reservoir site and distribution system; and
- consultancy services for construction supervision.
