This project aims at providing the population, particularly unconnected communities, with an affordable and consistent supply of electrical power. The project area is in Greater Banjul and surrounding rural areas to cover the electricity needs of homes, schools, health services and government centres, commercial activities, industrial/agricultural towns and villages. Works will include:
- installation and commissioning of a 11.1 MW power generation unit at National Water and Electric Company's Kotu Power Station, located some 12 km from the capital Banjul;
- purchase and installation of a diesel generator set;
- provision of spare parts and maintenance tools;
- provision of specialized training for operators and technicians; and
- PIU and consultancy services.
