To pave around 13 km of roads in Kinshasa city and install drainage works, thus affording the population with a safer, less expensive and more efficient means of travel. Works will include rehabilitation of five arteries in the city; installation of drainage works and road lighting; and, consultancy services. The project will bring direct benefits to the people living in densely populated and low-income neighbourhoods, and who commute daily for professional and personal reasons, and thus must spend a lot of time and money doing so. It is also expected to have a beneficial impact on the environment owing to the improved drainage of rainwater. This benefit will also help improve health conditions of the population from the reduced incidence of waterborne diseases.
